Dates, location and opening pattern
The 2026 market runs from Wednesday 25 November through Sunday 27 December on the upper Promenades Jean-Louis Schneiter, near Porte de Mars and within walking distance of Reims station. It is closed on 25 December.
Published hours vary by day: Monday afternoons, longer Thursday and Friday evenings, and opening from the morning at weekends. Check the official page shortly before travel because associated entertainment can use separate dates.
What you will find
The stalls sell regional food, crafts and gifts, with family activities and several Champagne-related stands. The market fits easily around the cathedral, lunch and a reserved cellar visit.
The centre is walkable, but the market can be busiest late on Saturdays. Earlier visits are better for families; the lights are most visible after dark.
A one-day market plan
Arrive by train, walk via Porte de Mars and visit the market before lunch. Reserve a cellar tour for mid-afternoon, then return to the centre for dinner and the lights.
If you are travelling from Paris, keep the last train in mind. Staying one night allows a slower market visit and a second Champagne experience the following morning.
Practical winter notes
Dress for standing outdoors and carry a warm layer for underground cellars. Do not rely on snow: the atmosphere comes from lighting, stalls and the historic city rather than guaranteed winter weather.
Book hotels and cellar tours early for December weekends. Restaurant reservations are especially useful for groups.
